Overview of the 2013 Fraternity Recruitment Events:
Be Greek BBQ - Saturday, August 24, 2013 Hubbard Park 11:00am - 1:00 PM This event will give all students who are interested in participating in Recruitment and Membership Intake during the Fall 2013 the opportunity to meet members of the Greek Community, and have a free meal provided by our four governing councils (IFC, MGC, NPHC & PHC). During this BBQ, interested students will be able to speak with representatives from every chapter, as well as Council Officers.
A registration kiosk will be setup on-site for all men who wish to sign-up for the IFC Recruitment opportunities that will take place during the second weeks of school.
Check-in & Fraternity Fair - Sunday, September 8, 2013, 12:00pm - 3:00pm Any men who have not registered by this point will still have the opportunity to register on-site. Potential new members will have a brief session with the leadership of the Interfraternity Council about the rules and process for Men's Recruitment. Chapters will have members and information in the Main Lounge and men are encouraged to visit as many chapters as possible. Potential New Members make selections on chapters they would like to return and visit Sunday - Wednesday. These selections must be made prior to a Potential Member leaving. Chapter Visits - Sunday, September 8, 2013, 6:00pm - 9:30pm *During this period, Potential New Members will have the opportunity to visit as many chapters as they would like to return to. Visits may last a maximum of one (1) hour per chapter. Individual chapter's recruitment events will be listed at a later date, after they have been submitted to the IFC VP for Recruitment and approved. *SPECIAL NOTE* If you are unable to attend any events during this day, you will still be able to visit chapters on Monday - Wednesday, it will not affect your recruitment eligibility with any chapter, as we understand you may have other priorities (class, sports practice, etc.).
Chapter Visits - Monday, September 9, 2013, 6:00pm - 9:30pm *During this period, Potential New Members will have the opportunity to visit as many chapters as they would like to return to. Visits may last a maximum of one (1) hour per chapter. Individual chapter's recruitment events will be listed at a later date, after they have been submitted to the IFC VP for Recruitment and approved. *SPECIAL NOTE* If you are unable to attend any events during this day, you will still be able to visit chapters on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, it will not affect your recruitment eligibility with any chapter, as we understand you may have other priorities (class, sports practice, etc.).
Chapter Visits - Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 6:00pm - 9:30pm *During period, Potential New Members will have the opportunity to visit as many chapters as they would like to return to. Visits may last a maximum of one and a half (1.5) hours per chapter. Individual chapter's recruitment events will be listed at a later date, after they have been submitted to the IFC VP for Recruitment and approved. *SPECIAL NOTE* If you are unable to attend any events during this day, you will still be able to visit chapters on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, it will not affect your recruitment eligibility with any chapter, as we understand you may have other priorities (class, sports practice, etc.).
Chapter Visits - Wednesday, September 11, 2013, 6:00pm - 9:30pm *During period, Potential New Members will have the opportunity to visit as many chapters as they would like to return to. Visits may last a maximum of one and a half (1.5) hours per chapter. Final Viewing Night - Thursday, September 12, 2013, 6:00pm - 9:30pm Final Viewing Night is an invitation only, closed event held by each chapter. During this time Potential New Members must be invited back to a chapter for their individual recruitment event. Potential members can attend a maximum of two (2) events this night. Events will be scheduled and will occur during these times:
Event 1: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Bid Day and IFC Commencement Ceremony - Friday, September 13, 2013 Potential new members will visit the 2nd Floor Ballroom between 10am - 2pm on this day, in the Iowa Memorial Union, to view and/or accept the bid(s) for membership that they have been offered. After all bids have been distributed, and signed by these men, a commencement ceremony will take place at 4pm. Members of the IFC, Center for Student Involvement & Leadership, and University Administration will welcome all of the new members to the community in with a special ceremony. Upon the conclusion of this ceremony, the new members will be released to their respective chapters.
